The Cypress Lakes Classic (back
to Tournament Directory)
Sunday - 10 May
Special mention should be made of the efforts of Peter (the robot) MacDougall who recorded an incredible 44 points at The Country Club before dashing back to Terrey Hills to record the worst round in his career in the club Championships!!!! Rob Lowndes will doubtless like it to be noted that the game is random, even for a robot!!
The Cypress Classic was played in perfect weather and the field of 10 recorded the highest scores ever seen in this event. Each team had a winner with Steve Figgis carrying team 1 with a huge 22 on the back9, Peter Burns bearing the weight of team 2 with 22 on the front 9 and the overall winner, Rick Chadwick recording a staggering 41 points for Team 3, including 25 on the back 9.
Once again the Team event was won by the only team without a Phantom, defying the logical thinking of most of the assembly.
Other notables who could be excused for believing that they had a chance were Peter T with 40, Ricky B with 39 and Peter Mac with 38. The rest of us really just made up the numbers and provided balls!
Thoughts of the group were with Kenny and Sharon Miller as Ken went to the extraordinary lengths of a spell in Intensive Care to avoid sharing a room with another Smerg----- we all wish you a speedy recovery Ken.
Thanks to all who made the Tour
Cheers, Nick
